Bruces Make Big Apple Gassy, More To Come?

Coincidence: you decide.

Exhibit A: January 8th 2007. Nathan Bruce arrives in new york.
This happens.

Exhibit B: August 18th 2007. Marlene Bruce arrives in new york.
This happens.

At this time there is still one Bruce left that has not made the pilgrimage to the city. Speculations are running wild at what havoc this might unleash.

bedroom 2.0

before,

during,

after. note the clutter: not mine.

I have been in the process of gradually redoing our bedroom. since we will be staying, we painted the wall, and made various furniture, and decorative changes. i am still looking for a way to turn buddah into the world's creepiest nightlight. yes that is a tv with an aerial antenna, we don't need no stinkin cable, we like our seinfeld reruns fuzzy and ghosted.
The prints on the wall are a photograph i took of a hand painted pattern on a temple wall in thailand. if you could see it up close it is very ornate, and quite amazing.

It was bound to happen sooner or later...

I finally (3.5 weeks later) hit 1000 miles, it was an errand trip to OSH and petsmart. I can now officially use the cruise control as recommended by page 87 of the manual. yes, this is the sort of posting a person like me does with a blog.

My (current) school

This is a picture of the front of my school, and the library. it looks fancy from the street, but my classes are in portables up the hill and 100 yds from the nearest parking spaces (which are all staff spots for another 50 yds) i know, wah.

This is inside the library, i really like it. very modern, industrial. the photo is on the second floor, above the entry. maybe because it is summer, but there is never more than 10 people in it whenever i go there. and those chairs are a pretty comfortable place to catch up on my periodicals. doesn't it look like a fancy airport.

How i spent my birthday

So, i got up around 8 to run a bunch of errands, groceries, petsmart, bank, etc. and then i went off in search of a place to install a navigation system in my new box.
At this point i should step back and fill in the background on the navigations system.

I ordered it the afternoon before i bought the car, spent more than expected on the car, then called to cancel it when i got back from the dealership (intending on ordering it again later). Much to my surprise it was delivered last friday afternoon, and customer service had closed. I went to hanford intending on returning it, and then due to the generosity of my relations (and a greenlight from the wife on the difference) i kept it.

Back to the more recent past. I went to Best Buy, and Circuit City but they were too busy or too expensive, but another customer recommended the "electronics warehouse" on grand in santa ana. i live near grand and i was trying to remember where this was, then it hit me--right next to the food-4-less. She was right, they did it in half the quoted time, at half the quoted price. It was a little unnerving as when i entered and stated my situation, the owner "crazy ahmed" (conjecture) said "my friend, i make deal for you" in a deep voice dripping with tabboulah. and so he did. an hour and a half later i had a navigation system/DVD player in my car.

However, i then had a half hour to run home for lunch before leaving to school. i had soup. it was wolfgang puck's beef and barley (that is the sort of detail you blog readers want, right?). Then off to school at 1430, until 2130(note: too lazy for am/pm). got home, opened my wife's presents for me (reference volumes on parrots of the world, and an interesting general knowledge book.) then went to bed at a reasonable hour, as i had to get up for work this morning.

Speaking of work this morning...when i arrived there was a birthday cake for me that Danielle had made. it was marble with white frosting, and delicious. and right before my shift ended, Lien brought two pies for me, chocolate and pumpkin (i'll let you know-too sugared up to get to those yet). And then Kris (one of my many surrogate mothers) brought in a cupcake-cake from the french bakery, and it was incredible. (everybit as good as magnolia, c&a).

So thank you everyone for your generosity and kindness, i am well navigated and powerfully over-sugared because of you. My birthday was wonderful because of you (and "crazy ahmed").

Random bird picture post

Um, so i like birds. guess we should get that out of the way early. not in a crazy "life-revolves-around-my-birds" kinda way. more like a preoccupation. the first is a pigeon bred to appear headless, and the second is a bird (quite alive, mind you) in a glass.

The missing photos...

Cory demanded to see these, or rather, asked politely with an ominous inflection about the donuts.

Who needs the Kwik-E-Mart...

The Kwik-E-Mart on Venice Blvd in LA.

The line was long, but moved kwik-ly.

My old pal Ralph Wiggum (and Apu).

The storefront.

landscapes

These were from my trip home from Hanford. All taken on Grangeville, west of 43.
At 28 i had an epiphany...blog. actually it was 12:28, but my watch said 00:28, and since at that moment i was 28 it seemed significant.

Some initial information, my lack of capitalization of the letter "i" is not due to a lowered self-esteem, or some careful and thought out rejection of the self-centered world (as should be evident by the fact that i think anyone would care to read this), no, my lack of capitalization is not a product of poor education so much as laziness. i can't be bothered. It will be a trend.

Today, July 9th, is my 28th birthday.
