we (meg) got an 07 miata (her dream car) in june. it has been a great addition to our family, and we both love it more than we could have imagined.
i have been living without tv for the summer, subsisting only on a steady diet of movies. (up to 13 a week). i have been working my way through the american film institute's top 100 american movies, plus a smattering of foreigns and new releases. i have less than 25 to go on the top 100, so maybe next summer...
our dog, dory, became very sick in june, with the help of meg's father, a team of veterinary specialists, and a diligence to administering medications and 4x a day tube feeding, we kept her comfortable, scrambly, and alive until the end of July. At which time she started to get worse than before, so we euthanized her ourselves, at home. it was one of the hardest days i can remember. She was 14, and a great companion, and we miss her very much.
after much debate the decision was made to get another dog-our house seems a bit empty these days-and after a brief but fruitful search of breeders we found a litter in san diego, right next to where meg was a camp counselor. We are getting a cairn terrier (think "toto"), a female, and at the time of posting she is exactly 4 weeks old. we went down to see the litter at 1.5 weeks, and there were 3 girls, one is spoken for, so we'll have second choice, we don't get to bring her home for another month.
we are very anxious to get her home. i have never had a puppy before, and am slightly afraid of what awaits me. meg on the other hand has had numerous puppies in her family and teases me for being a nervous expectant puppy owner. believe me, i'll post a photo as soon as we get her.
we got away for the first weekend of august. We stayed in ventura, went to the ventura county fair, and wandered around town. we also went to santa barbara to wander around town, go to the zoo, and just generally hang out. it was a nice little "throw a bag in the trunk, put the top down and head toward the ocean" kinda trip.
school starts next week, and it will be good to get out of the empty house some. meg has a conference in boston in late september, and i will be joining her for 4-5 days it will be a nice last little vacation for the year. the plan is to get down to ny to see the brooklyn bruces for a day.

Nice catch-up blog... Very informative. No mention of new tires or a boring Hanford visit.... :)
Those are cute puppies and you will be a great puppy daddy. You are nurturing and caring...just what a puppy needs. A little advice....Don't let her get away with everything just because she is cute. Can hardly wait to see which one you get.
Sounds like you are gearing up for next week.
Love,
Mom
