there's a documentary miniseries on pbs called carrier. you should watch it if you have ever wondered about life aboard ship. i have caught the first (two hour) episode, and had flashbacks. it was surprisingly real, and unblinking. with the exceptions of some language edits its pretty much like being there, without the smells. some interesting smells you miss out on.
granted, i was never on a carrier, but while underway-below the flight deck is exactly the same on all ships big or small(the only difference is the size of the cast). good stuff, slightly more realistic than jag or ncis.

I have been watching Carrier and it is interesting. Perhaps you find it more realistic than JAG or NCIS because you had no legal troubles during your time in. Did you? M
